Interesting team building questions
More and more we find ourselves on Zoom calls, Google Hangouts, Microsoft Teams, Facetime, Skype, or some other video chatting platform. Over the course of the Covid quarantine, video call fatigue has really taken a toll on many of us. Everyday marketing, sales, project, and leadership teams are “jumping on a call” and it’s getting old.
How can we add a dash of fun and joy back into this Work From Home routine?
As a magician, I’ve been performing virtual shows almost non-stop since early April. The majority of my clients are work teams gathering for a virtual Happy Hour. I’m invited into their call to provide 30 minutes of mind reading style magic. It’s fun, different, and uplifting.
Magic is certainly not the only form of entertainment which can be added to a call. Try a virtual bartender experience. Pick a specific cocktail with the bartenders (ex. Brandy Old Fashioned, or Margarita), put together a supplies list and email that out to your team a few days prior to the meeting. On the call, everyone can follow along and make a drink together for Happy Hour.
Murder Mystery or Virtual Escape Rooms are also great fun for a group to collaborate on. Hire a small group to join your call and facilitate the puzzles.
I know budgets are tighter and many groups don’t have gobs of cash to throw at entertainment right now. So, below I listed a good stack of odd, interesting questions you could work through as a group. Grab ten of these, shuffle them and take turns interviewing your teammates. I intentionally mixed and mingled the topics so that they felt just a little shuffled.
This might sound like a fluffy idea, but your team culture may now be as great as everyone says.
